Contemporary and Unique Home
This old converted church in Hove had been split into two halves and this cottage stood on the rear end of the conversion. The building had a quirky character and the potential to become a contemporary and unique home with some rearrangement and extension work to create more space and light.
The client wished to change the ground floor arrangement by infilling some of the exterior space adjacent to the existing kitchen, with a single storey flat roofed extension incorporating a lantern light, to create a larger kitchen that opens up the front outdoor space via some double doors.
ARCH-angels Architects gained permitted development approval for a single-storey front extension. The extension housed a new kitchen, with a beautiful lantern roof light and provided the clients with a new front entrance, which the existing building didn’t have. We also installed new bi-fold doors that opened up to the courtyard and let light flood into the lounge.
ARCH-angels works to be as environmentally friendly and energy efficient as possible with minimum impact to help the client save money and energy. We specified the use of high-performance windows, extra insulation and eco-friendly materials where possible within the client’s budget.
