Internal and External Refurbishment
A new contemporary access platform and steps to the garden was proposed from the ground floor flat within a 1860s villa situated in the West Hill Conservation area of Brighton. Although the building is not listed, discussions with the Conservation Officer at the Local Authority took place and careful consideration was given to the design of the platform in glass and steel so as not to have any adverse impact on the existing building.
The clients wanted to remove the existing access route to the garden which was through the bathroom – a far from ideal situation! This enabled the refurbishment of the existing bathroom to be carried out to create a private stylish sanctuary.
