creating a home for life

brighton, east sussex

This couple's goal was to transform their current home into their life long home. They wanted to create a functional and attractive kitchen/dining space to allow for relaxed cooking and entertaining friends. A previous loft conversion continued to serve its purpose, so it was important to keep disruption of the existing home to a minimum.

A new single-storey rear extension solves the puzzle efficiently. A bespoke contemporary kitchen with dark wood cabinet fronts, recessed copper finger pulls and a wood worktop create an elegant and tidy space. Vastly improved kitchen storage eliminates clutter. A utility area conceals the functional essentials of the perfect home. Generous windows and a sliding door bring light into the home and create sunny reading spots with views to the garden. The sliding doors open up to an outdoor seating area with steps down to a landscaped low-maintenance garden. While the home has neighbours nearby on either side, the garden and outdoor seating area feel private.

As is standard in all of our projects, we specified low maintenance materials, high-performance windows and doors, AAA rated energy efficient appliances, low flow rate taps, efficient light fixtures and environmentally friendly paints, all helping save energy and reduce carbon emissions.

With some careful thinking, this modest house has become a home for life.
